DRESSY BESSY working on new material for 2007 release. Critics In Love With Arab Strap

Strap? Raise your hand if you find someone. The Austin Chronicle has
summed it up best
here!
Arab Strap support band A Whisper in the Noise attacked in Seattle
On the first leg of the Arab Strap tour, supporting band A Whisper
In The Noise were attacked last night, March 28, at knifepoint by
two thugs at the Neumos show in Seattle (located at 925 E. Pike
Street).
Two drunk/drugged out-of-their mind punks approached the AWITN van
as they were loading the last piece of gear into the truck and
enjoying one last smoke before hitting the road. Minutes after Arab
Strap left the venue the youths approached the band. They attempted
to grab gear and gain entry onto the van. When confronted by the
AWITN bandmembers and tour manager, one of the perpetrators pulled a
knife and the other sucker punched the tour manager knocking out his
front teeth. They then attempted to slash the van tires
before leaving the scene. Police arrived after the perpetrators
fled the scene and no arrests were made. The tour manager spent the
night in the ER having his front teeth temporarily replaced with a
temporary bridge.
AWITN tour manager/driver comments: "They had a knife drawn and
demanded equipment, then the other guy sucker-punched me. As
they ran away they were shouting, 'Welcome to Seattle,
Motherfuckers!'"
If anyone has any information regarding the attackers, please
call the Seattle police department at 206-625-5011.

Coldplay goes head to head with Dressy Bessy on NPR!
New York NY June 23, 2005 --
In an astonishing editorial piece on NPR, the nation's most
prestigious public radio broadcast, rock band Coldplay were
pitted up against Dressy Bessy on its June 22 broadcast. NPR's
critic Ken Tucker compares and contrasts the two artists in what
became a duel of indie rock vs. commercial rock giant. It was a
"David and Goliath" story that left Coldplay in the cold.
After his ambivalent comments on Coldplay,
respected journalist and critic Ken Tucker went on to praise and
recommend Dressy Bessy: "What person with a healthy heartbeat
wouldn't rather listen to Dressy Bessy. The band's new album
Electrified is electrifying!" says Tucker. "I listen to a band
like Dressy Bessy after listening to Coldplay and I think that I
must be living in an alternate universe; where the spunkiest,
most life-affirming music is pushed to the margins to make room
for the coldly played stuff (now referring to Coldplay) that
announces its intentions to be life-affirming, and then can't
quite heave its huge ambitions into the postition of making good
on that promise."
NPR's Ken Tucker continued his critique of
Coldplay and Dressy Bessy with unbridled enthusiasm:
"In other words, I think that Dressy Bessy is
a far more efficient pleasure-machine than Coldplay. If Chris
Martin's voice is earnest and thoughtful, Tammy Ealom's tone is
every bit as knowledgable about the vagaries of love and
lost and so much more varied and witty in its expression."
Tucker continues, "In the pop competition to dramatize the joys
and dangers of life, Coldplay makes all the right moves, but
Dressy Bessy really comes through with the right stuff." says
NPR's Tucker.
